Sarah-Ann Cromwell: Diva!

Sarah-Ann is Britain's First Award Winning Operatic Comedian, the First Lady singer in 30 years to join the internationally touring A Cappella group Cantabile-The London Quartet and Facilitator of Awesome.

Whilst studying at Birmingham Conservatoire Sarah-Ann won the silver Oratorio Prize and the Birmingham Music Festival's Recital Prize. Upon graduating she performed in the critically acclaimed, RPS Award winning, BBC2 aired: Othello, with the Birmingham Opera Company's international director Graham Vick and Music Director Stephen Barlow. Sarah-Ann's serious Operatic work includes performances in Co-Opera's Carmen (the gypsies) under the watchful direction of Slumdog Millionaire actor William Relton, Body/opera with Patrick Eakin and Dido from Purcells Dido and Aneaus with Opera Ingestre. Her diverse solo oratorio work encompasses the traditional: Handel Messiah in Paris for the Japanese Embassy, the contemporary Panufnik's Westminster Mass Coventry Cathedral, Larley's In Praise of Music in Ludlow and the popular Sir Paul McCartney's Ecce Cor Meum in Birmingham's Town Hall. It was her character operatic roles: Mikado's cheeky Pitti Sing with Opera Anywhere, the mischievous Suor Genovieffa from Midland Opera's Suor Angelica and a randy 120 year old from Malcolm Williamson's Opera English Eccentrics, which cemented her journey towards Operatic Comedian.

Hating the unpleasant nature of Operatic auditions but wanting to gain experience in touring and humour, Sarah-Ann wrote Diva Gigs: A Week in the Life of a Diva and became, Sarah-Ann:Diva. After a successful pilot at Birmingham Artsfest, a sold out gig at Birmingham's Joint Stock Theatre, a nomination for Buxton Festivals: Best Solo Vocal Award and Winning Buxton Festivals Spirit of the Fringe and a 234% successful crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter, Sarah-Ann: Diva, took Diva Gigs to the Edinburgh Fringe. She was awarded 4 star reviews from Broadway Baby, Time Out London and ScotsGay, WON February Cheese'n'Crackers, London's original, variety and talent show and in the final leg of Diva's tour, sold out performances at the Ludlow Fringe and Mac Birmingham. After 18 months and lots of laughs, Diva hung up her red dress in order to tour the world as the First Lady of: Cantabile-The London Quartet.
